- Season Opener

The society holds its first outing of the 2010 season at Clones Golf Club on Sunday 21st March. Members will compete for the Frank Reihill Memorial Trophy. The tee has been booked for 10.30am and members should arrive at least 15mins before start time for collection of monies and draw for playing partners.

Please have your annual subscription with you as well as the levy for this outing, which should be given on arrival to the organisers.

The April outing - Enda Maguire Memorial competition is attracting a lot of attention - with up to 20 invited guests. Members should note that it is not possible to accommodate visitors (apart from these guests) and membership must be paid before outing. PLEASE NOTE NEW START TIME - 10.30am

The weekend outing (May 22/23) to Citywest Hotel has also been very popular to date and anyone wishing to attend should submit their name to Brendan as soon as possible. Please note 50% deposit must be paid to book your place.

We have some of our outings for the year booked as follows:

March 21st - Frank Reihill Trophy - Clones Golf Club - 10.30am start

April 11th - Enda Maguire Trophy - Slieve Russell Golf Club (to be confirmed)

May 22nd/23rd - City West Hotel & Golf Resort - 2rnds Golf / 1 evening meal / bed & breakfast (places limited) (12.00 noon tee off on Saturday)

June 13th - Killymoon Golf Club - 12.00 noon start (can't get earlier)

July 11th - Carrick on Shannon Golf Club - 10.30am start

August 8th - Connor McKenna Cup - Rossmore Golf Club - 10.00am start

September 12th - Paraic Geoghegan's Captains Day - to be arranged by captain

October - Christmas voucher outing - to be arranged closer to the time

This is a provisional list of outings for the coming year:
Sunday 28th March - Enda Maguire Memorial Trophy - Slieve Russell Golf Club (to be confirmed with Enda's family)
Sunday 18th April - Frank Reihill Memorial Trophy - Clones Golf Club
Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th May - 2 days golf / 1 night B&B plus evening meal - City West Hotel Dublin
Sunday 6th June - Royal Tara Golf Club, Navan
Sunday 11th July - Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club
Sunday 8th August - Connor McKenna Memorial Trophy - Rossmore Golf Club
September - Captain Paraic Geoghegan - to arrange venue
These dates and venues are only provisional

Remember membership must be paid on/before first outing.
Visitors only by prior arrangement

- Excellent Weather for the Season Finale

That's it for 2009. The golf clubs can be put into storage until Spring unless you are one of those golfers who play all year round.
Congratulations to our Christmas voucher winners in Sun drenched Clones on Sunday - Paudie Foley, Paraic Geoghegan and John McDaid. Once again we thank our sponsors for this event - The Oak Barrell, Frank's Bar and Durnien Fruit & Veg. We ask all our members to show their appreciation by supporting them and conveying your own thanks to them.
Members should note that membership £30 (unchanged for a number of years) can be paid to Damian or Brendan up until the first outing. The Society has a rule dating back to 1994 that anyone who lives within 10 miles of Lisnaskea cannot play as a visitor, they can only become a full member. Some guests will be invited by the committee to attend special outings - in memory of deceased members. Any other visitors must be passed by the committee in advance of attendance.
At present we are drawing up the programme for 2010 and anyone who has any suggestions for venues or any other things they would like to see happen in the coming year, then we ask you to pass these on to us in the next two weeks as we have to get our bookings done to avail of the best possible value for money.
We are organising a Texas Holdem for Sunday 27th December in the Oak Barrell at 5.00pm. We would like to see as many members in attendance on that day, either to play or to help manage the event.
In closing we would like to take this opportunity to wish all our members and their families, our sponsors and their families a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. We hope you all come back in the new season and why not try to get a friend or two to join the Society.

- Turkey Shoot - Shot Duck

Due to the atrocious weather on Sunday morning the Turkey Shoot has been provisionally rearranged for Sunday 15th Nov in Clones - Tee time 9.00am.
Same conditions will apply.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Brian (Skippy) Durnien 'Durnien Fruit and Veg', Ollie Swift 'Frank's Bar', and Eamon McCaffrey 'The Oak Barrell' for their generous sponsorship towards this outing.

Every effort will be made to keep this date but the Club has yet to be approached. More news later.
